not only is design something personal to me and my interests, i want to utilize my understanding and passion for creating meaningful designs to have an impact on those i create for and my community around me.
growing up in an first-generation immigrant household as the eldest child, i’ve had to bear a lot of responsibility for my family throughout my childhood to adulthood to educate them on advancing tech and concepts in the world. these moments illustrated to me how difficult it can be to navigate certain products or websites if you aren’t the most tech-saavy individual.
to create designs that can become reliable resources to not just serve my family, but also the greater communities surrounding me, motivates me to use this perspective to continue making accessible products.

hi, i’m melissa
i am a product design student located in the sf bay area
i'm currently studying cognitive science with a minor in data science, and pursuing the berkeley certificate in design innovation at uc berkeley. my interest lies in breaking down complicated systems and user flows, then rebuilding them into something more intuitive and accessible for the communities that rely on them.
i actively seek out challenging projects that stretch my skills and broaden my design perspective, because designing well means designing for everyone.
